Sam Smith - According to our latest five poll average all the
candidates in last night's Democratic debate are in a statistical tie
with Trump. But to pull this off, they all need the enthusiasm and
support of those whom they oppose in the primary. Yet, you got the
impression that they were expecting to run against Bloomberg rather than
Trump and, led particularly by Sanders, Warren and Biden, displayed an
anger and lack of positive arguments that could hardly recruit much
support.
The lone candidate who displayed any charm or
pleasantness was Amy Klobuchar.. In contrast, Sanders' and Warren's
lecturing style and tedious anger, was not good politics, however one
may judge their stand on issues.
I left the debate
feeling depressed and wishing the Democrats would adopt ranked choice
voting for their nomination, as it would encourage the candidates to
reach out to others and not just present an angry, self-righteous
argument. Voters are not a jury deciding a law suit, but constituents
looking for someone with whom they will feel comfortable the next four
years.
